What is the formula to calculate CD interests?

I'm honestly looking into buying factory direct but my question is. I am looking to buy for my son. He turns 15 today and i told him i am willing to help him invest in his future. Can i or should i buy $1200 in bonds in one lump sum or as i was planning , to buy $100 in bonds a month for the next year? (Is that even a viable/logical option)

anyone saying cut back on expenses, surely can't give any useful advice. With the internet the the age of technology, a second income is certainly possible.

We had $35k that we were holding for home improvements. I invested that $35k in $5k increments in various maturities between 1-6 months & set them to auto reinvest at maturity. We’re in the midst of the improvements now & changed each from auto reinvest to cash out at maturity to finance the projects. Worked great for us.

Just signed up yesterday and wasnt aware of the $3/mo fee, despite it being an ideal platform. Thank you for answering these questions! Think I’m gonna close my account and reopen when I’m more prepared.

I've been using M1 for about a year now and LOVE it thus far. Get the 5% HYSA each month and love the automation each week I add funds. Don't use the checking/debit features at all.

$3.00 a month to use the platform? That's $36 a year! And I have just the platform. It's all done by AI Logarithms and now we all have to pay $3.00 a month? I don't think I'll be investing in M1 Finance anymore and you all should do the same!

Yeah I noticed that $6.00 was taken out 5/15/24 and 6/15/24 without my authorization. Technically this is theft and tampering with my account can result in M1 losing me as a customer.

Is all a scam . Your money goes to somebody who pays less ( a big company or a bank) and now sells it to you for a profit the same day. Or somebody who pays less before you decide this company is worth more 😂😂

Interesting video good information I think it would be amazing if you also broke down a savings you make as far as percentage if there were like a little chart you made showing if your income is so and so how much percentage you're saving on state taxes also do you have to pay city taxes or is it also exempt from city taxes thank you in advance for your response

I have been keaping my money in t-bills and selling puts at the same time on the prices I would really like to own stocks. That way I am using my money twice and it works fine to me. You should not be compering t bills with stocks because those are apples and oranges. Compare them with the difference between at the money calls and puts on the best stocks you can find.

T bills, cds, and municipal bonds work for me. Safe, predictable, and the bonds are tax free...which is like a higher rate on a taxable investment. I may get back into dividend stocks once this over priced market fully corrects.

Why when building ladder , you reinvest ist into a longer maturity as in this example 5 yrs. Why not reinvest into 2 ye or 1 yr??

Thanks. Makes sense. But the question is .. why not build a ladder using only 4-week T-bills? I understand that new T-bills are issues every week, right? So let's say I buy $ 1000 now of a 4-week T-bill, then next week I buy another $1000 in a new auction, then a 3rd week and then the 4th week. I select auto-re invest for all of them and forget. Wouldn't I have money available every week ? (cancelling the reinvestment option if I need the money). I would have Tbills coming to maturity and being reinvested every single week. Why is this not better than buying different term Tbills like you suggest?

Can both parents buy I bonds for kids as minor ? We have 2 kids, Can i buy1 for myself, my daughter and my son and my wife can do the same so altogether we will have 6 for our family ?

@JayFairbrother can you explain how selling T bills before they have matured and while interest rates have increased will cause someone to lose money on that sell? Your video is fantastic, that is the only concept I’m not totally grasping. Thank you!!

For everyone saying Read didn't get to "enjoy" his wealth, his contentment with living a quiet, simple life is the key. This is a man that experienced the Great Depression and that's where he learned to be extremely cautious with his money and live below his means. Having $8m in your back pocket means you have a bullet proof emergency fund too and that kind of peace of mind is priceless.

Excellent video. I Been using M1 for two years and was pleased with it until they rolled out w/ their three dollar monthly fee. Hopefully M1 see this video get reconsidered before I find another platform to move to.

I'm in an industry where I have a birds eye view of future economics. I've been saying since the last rate increase that they won't be lowering them till 2025. Inflation is still jacked up. I wouldn't be surprised if we only see one rate decrease in 2025.
